Dried plant material, however, can include items such as cardboard, sawdust and shredded paper. Avoid ashes, meat, charcoal and diseased plants in your compost.

Is there a natural way to kill weeds? You need to have many layers of newspapers in order to provide proper weed control. Weeds cannot grow without light. When you put newspaper on top of weeds they will suffocate because they are not getting enough light. It’s easy for newspapers to break down over an extended period of time, making them great for compost. Try adding some mulch on top of it to make appear more attractive.
