What You Can Plant in August for An Incredible Fall Garden

What will you plant in August for your Fall garden? You can plant in August in all zones (1– 10), but various veggies will best for different zones. I have a list of veggies, noted by zones, that can be planted this month. March. April. May, June and July.

Fall is my favorite season for gardening. The weather is finally cooling off in the desert (well not truly in August) and my garden comes to life. Cooler zones will have less to plant in August but the warmer zones are coming to life!

Let’s get that Fall garden in motion! Each zone is separated in the list so that you can easily see what you can plant in your garden. I have included links to seeds that work best for your zone, in each section. I have likewise included some fruits and herbs where applicable.

Zone 1

  • Artichokes (world).
  • Chinese Cabbage.
  • Kohlrabi.
  • Lettuce (leaf only).
  • Peas.
  • Spinach.
  • Turnips.

Zone 2

  • Artichokes (world).
  • Broccoli.
  • Chinese Cabbage.
  • Endive.
  • Kohlrabi.

  • Radishes.

  • Brussels Sprouts.
  • Carrots.

  • Peppers (early in August).
  • Radishes.

  • Spinach.
  • Squash.
  • Tomatoes (early).
