Need Help With Your Organic Garden? Try These Tips!

People have many different reasons for considering an organic gardening approach. For example, some people appreciate the health benefits but are unsure about what equipment and tools are needed to get started. Organic gardening also involves choosing from a large variety of different seeds as well. Whether you are growing your first garden or looking for a few new tips, the following tips give some easy-to-implement organic gardening device.

Water containing some aspirin helps your plants fight illness. One and half tablets of aspirin in a couple gallons of water will be a wonderful help to the plants you have. You can just spray this on them to fight disease. The process can be repeated every three weeks or so.

TIP! Planting organic strawberries is a great way to encourage your children to get involved. You will find that they enjoy participating in gardening if they are allowed to pluck the fresh berries and eat them straight from the earth.

If you like the concept of organic gardening, then why not take it one step further by leaving some of your land undeveloped for the area’s wildlife? Your cultivated garden spaces will benefit from the various insects and wildlife that will inhabit and pollinate the undeveloped space.

It is easy to quickly prepare your perennial garden ground. With a garden spade, slice under the dirt then flip it over. Next, spread out wood chips several inches deep. After a few weeks, you can then dig into the turf and plant the perennials of your choosing.

Tuck away some plastic grocery bags and use them to slip over your muddy boots. This allows you to work steadily and without distractions, making you a happier and more productive gardener.

Laundry Basket

When the time comes to harvest your produce, collect it using an old laundry basket. This laundry basket can be used as a type of strainer for all your produce. You can rinse your produce off while it is in the basket, and the excess water will strain through the holes of your laundry basket.

Do you want to kill weeds without using commercial chemicals? A good thick layer of newspaper can be laid down to control weeds. Weeds need sunlight to grow. The layers of newspaper over the weeds will block out the light and kill them. You can use newspapers because of how nicely they break down, they can be added into compost. Try adding some mulch on top of it to make appear more attractive.

TIP! If you have a high priority for sustainability in your organic gardening, try leaving a corner of the property undeveloped as a mini wildlife refuge. This can be a good area for the types of insects that pollinate plants.

When you run your personal organic garden, try ruffling seedlings using your hands or cardboard one or two times daily. While it seems a little odd, it has been reported that this can encourage plant growth.

If slugs are problematic in your garden, you can use an all-natural beer trap to do away with them. First, place a glass canning jar in the soil, burying it until the mouth is even with the surface of the soil. Fill that with beer just under an inch from the top of your jar. Slugs are attracted by the beer and won’t be able to exit the jar once they enter.

Consider the climate and season when watering your plants. The level of necessary watering turns on the type of water you use, the kind of soil in your garden and the amount of direct sunlight you have. If the climate is hot, but humid you’ll have to avoid watering the leaves, for example. The important thing is to make sure the plant’s roots receive sufficient water.
